Media Freedom Foundation/Project Censored Position Statement on the Necessity of an  Open and Transparent National Peace Movement

 

Inside the US/NATO Military Industrial Media Complex there is a deliberate news management effort that undermines the freedom of information on the military/corporate elites though overt censorship, mass distractions and artificial news—stories timed for release to influence public opinion.

            New research in the journal American Behavioral Scientist (Sage publications, February 2010) addresses the concept of “State Crimes Against Democracy” (SCADs). Professor Lance deHaven-Smith from Florida State University writes that SCADs involve high- level government officials, often in combination with private interests, that engage in covert activities for political advantages and power. Proven SCADs since World War II include McCarthyism (fabrication of evidence of a communist infiltration), Gulf of Tonkin Resolution (President Johnson and Robert McNamara falsely claimed North Vietnam attacked a US ship), burglary of the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist in effort to discredit Ellsberg, the Watergate break-in, Iran-Contra, Florida’s 2000 Election (felon disenfranchisement program), and fixed intelligence on WMDs to justify the Iraq War.

             Other suspected SCADs include the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald, the shooting of George Wallace, the October Surprise near the end of the Carter presidency,military grade anthrax mailed to Senators Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy, Martin Luther King’s assassination, widespread covert torture by US forces, and the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 on September 11, 2001. The proven SCADs have a long trail of congressional hearings, public records, and academic research establishing the truth of the activities. The suspected SCADs listed above have substantial evidence of covert actions with some countervailing deniability that tends to leave the facts in dispute.  

All of these subjects deserve the attention of the American public. No matter where one stands on these topics, these studies should be part of a vibrant dialogue within peace movements in any democratic society. Anything less is simply a matter of censorship.

Resolve: The National Peace Movement demands the immediate and total withdrawal of U.S. military forces, mercenaries and contractors from Afghanistan, and the end to drone attacks on Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, and other countries and calls for self-determination for the people of all nations. In this demand is the necessity for full truth and transparency regarding all US/NATO actions and an expanded development of independent news sources for broad public knowledge of the state of the wars and occupations. We demand an end to censorship of news topics and full democratic access to freedom of information within the US NATO Military Industrial Media Empire.

Further Resolve: that the National Peace Movement supports full and open public discussion and investigation of all State Crimes Against Democracy and corporate malfeasances.

Resolution to Expose the Censorship that Represses the 99 Percent

 

In line with the foundations of UNACpeace.org , which are “1) unity in the movement,  2) independence from political parties,  3) democratic decision-making,  4) U.S. Out Now from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan (and now Libya), and 5) a commitment to mass action as the major strategy for building a powerful and inclusive movement, while endorsing other kinds of actions as well to build a movement capable of bringing about fundamental change”, we supporters of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth are in solidarity with the 99 percent of humanity “who want peace, a healthy planet and a society that prioritizes human needs, democracy and civil liberties for all”[1].  No social movement can succeed for long without an understanding of the forces that are arrayed against them.  That is why we call attention to the tactics of the 1 percent.  “They go after truth tellers and whistle blowers.”[2]  They use the complicit  corporate media. “They make speaking out and protesting a crime, claiming this gives material support to terrorists.”[3] Therefore, we call on the United National Anti-war Conference (UNAC) to oppose these repressive tactics by uniting with us to expose the most injurious, dangerous instance of disinformation, which the 1 percent have used as the main pretext for their imperial, global warmaking. We resolve that the UNAC adopt the evidence endorsed by over 1600 certified Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth as the basis for ending the censorship that facilitates the repression of the 99 percent and justifies the 1 percent’s disastrous “War on [of] Terror”.

In the spirit of wanting important issues to be discussed with full mutual respect and without weakening our collective wisdom and resolve, 

WE PROPOSE: That JMAXCSI 911.org be supported by UNAC to join with those of varying opinions to hold, as appropriate and possible, mutually respectful discussions here at this conference, and to organize at least an hour long panel at the next UNAC gathering or conference, to debate whether or not 9/11 was a false flag operation, with no other presentation occurring simultaneously. 

MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Jews and Muslims Asking for a Credible Scientific Investigation of 9/11 (JMACSI 9/11) is to join other nonviolent seekers of truth in advocating for an unbiased comprehensive scientific investigation of the horrific events that happened on September 11, 2001. The reason for our quest is the existence of well-founded serious doubts about the scientific credibility, hence the very legitimacy of the official story of 9/11. Thus, we have come together in this critically important mission to demand the truth, but also from our unique vantage point as Jews and Muslims. Here is why the focus we wish to bring to this issue is needed: Obviously if an unbiased investigation of the actual events of 9/11 reveals facts contrary to the officially promoted narrative, history itself has the right to know such tragic facts. What has been largely neglected, however, is that the official story, which seems to distort the realities of 9/11 grossly, has been used to produce a deeply oppressive historically immense defamation of Muslims around the world; a horrific demonized defamation with which Jews are painfully familiar because of what they have suffered throughout the ages. Hence besides striving to correct the historical record in this grave matter, JMACSI 9/11's nonviolent mission also provides a historic opportunity to further build the common grounds of empathy and solidarity, especially among us as Jews and Muslims, in our human longing for true peace and justice. This is why our sensitively unique mission needs to be an integral part of the larger popular movement to uncover the painful truths of 9/11. NOTE: As outlined in the relevant segments of this developing website, including our FAQ section, joining and participation in JMACSI 9/11 is open to all who accept to adhere to the scientific and moral/ethical discipline of this mission statement (patterned after A & E for 9/11 Truth), regardless of their diverse individual views and activities elsewhere about any other religious, secular, political, ideological, or social issue.

Statement of Yehuda Littmann: Tractate Mishna Avot (Fathers) 1:18 says, "Rabbi Shimon says the world stands on three things: Justice, Truth, and Peace."  So, I sincerely thank all those who gather for the cause of true peace and justice. 

I am an Orthodox Jew and a grandson of Holocaust survivors who lost relatives in the gas chambers. This is my statement of conscience, berifly explaining why I believe it is a religious duty for me to join my Muslim brothers and sisters, who also yearn for truth, in our common-ground initiative, Jews and Muslims Asking for a Credible Scientific Investigation of 9/11 (JMACSI 9/11). It is precisely because I am a faithful Jew that I believe it is especially incumbent on all Jews to come forward and demand a real investigation into what actually happened on 9/11 and the events surrounding it. Why? Because about 3,000 people perished that dreadful day, and millions of people have been killed since--their deaths directly or indirectly related to 9/11. The BBC reported, however, that some of the alleged hijackers of 9/11 are apparently still alive, and Newsweek reported that three of them were trained in US military bases. Therefore, because the official story of 9/11 appears to be contrary to even basic scientific truths, so far over 1,650 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for an unbiased investigation into the collapse of the Twin Towers and Bldg. Number 7. Let us recall that none of the alleged highjackers came from countries that have been attacked since 9/11, and yet such "preventive" wars have been justified on the basis of what these 19 men supposedly did. Is the blood of the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust (including some of my own relatives) more sacred than the blood of the millions killed so far in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. -- and now they want to attack Iran!

In the 1890s France there was the Dreyfus Affair, in which a French Jewish army officer named Alfred Dreyfus was falsely accused of handing over military secrets to the Germans. Enraged, the celebrated French novelist Emile Zola published a fierce denunciation of this bigoted act, of falsifying the truth leading to the wrongful conviction for treason of an innocent Jewish man, as well as the related attempt to cover-up the scandal afterwards. Sounds familiar? Zola's conscientious intervention in this affair helped to undermine antisemitism and rabid militarism in France at that time. Maimonides wrote, "One should hear the truth from whomever states it."  The Ninth Commandment states: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." I believe it is now our turn to emulate Emile Zola and declare: "J'Accuse!"  but this time to defend and protect Muslims, the new Jews. Statement of Prof. Mohammad A. Auwal: Dear Anti-War, Peace Activists,

I cannot thank you enough for standing up for peace and justice, and I cherish your genuine human concern for the current and potential future victims of the insane wars of the U.S. and some other Western nations. You are probably the last line of defense for the victims of these victims.  You are playing a most important role in this point in time in history.Personally, I am a naturalized U.S. citizen of Bangladeshi origin.  My name clearly represents that I am a Muslim.  Professionally, I am professor of Communication Studies at a California university. Every time I travel via an airport, I feel the palpable effects of the 'received view' ('terrorist theory') of 911 in action.  I am always pulled over for special, humiliating search.  And every time I read/hear news or views on media, I see how Muslims are victimized by the inane use of U.S. military and diplomatic might, and on top of that, how they are being blamed for bringing wars on themselves. Case in point, for only one example, just days ago when speaking on the latest massacre of Afghan civilians by U.S. soldiers, the current White House Press Secretary, Jay Carney justified the U.S presence in Afghanistan by invoking the official story of 911.  He told everyone to remember that "we are there (in Afghanistan) because we were attacked on 911."  As an academic, I have studied this phenomenon very carefully and I have good reasons to believe that the official narrative of 911 is incoherent and FALSE. It is a fantastic theory, a myth, a miracle in our world of science. To be effective as voices of peace and justice worldwide, we need to dismantle this myth, for the following reasons:

a) The official theory of 911 represents an irrationally held truth that is used to call for and justify U.S. wars on Muslim countries; b) “Irrationally held truths may be more harmful than reasoned errors.” (Thomas Henry Huxley); c) “Unexamined life is not worth living.” (Socrates); d) “Indeed falsehood is ever bound to vanish.” (Qur’an 17:81); e)“Truth stands, even if there be no public support.“ (M. Gandhi); f) "A time comes when silence is betrayal.” (ML King, Jr.) In the meantime, scholars including architects, engineers, scientists, and professional groups have produced a mountain of documentary studies that conclusively explode the myths of 911. We now have the smoking gun evidences of 911, the DNA’s of the 911 truth. So, I ask that you give us (JMACSI 9/11, Jews and Muslims Asking for a Credible Scientific Investigation of 9/11) the opportunity to discuss and raise reasoned awareness about the Received View of 911 as a justification for endless wars, by scheduling as many sessions as possible in this and upcoming conferences. Statement of Moji Agha--Founder of JMACSI 9/11:  Dear fellow lovers of peace and justice,

Thank you for gathering together to try to prevent yet another country from being attacked by the "civilized West," this time Iran, where I am originally from. Over 10 years ago, and only 2 DAYS after 9/11, as the people of Iraq were being targeted because their U.S. installed ruler had turned into "the next Hitler," I wrote in the online journal Counterpunch, that I am already tired, as an "Iranian in Tucson." Tired of being doubly victimized by 9/11, as a Muslim American.  I am even more tired now, because Muslims have become the New Jews. So I have asked my Jewish brothers and sisters, who know historic defamation intimately, to help us as Muslims, against the horrible demonization that we are subjected to, again with 9/11 as the pretext. 

BUT, I am even more deeply tired because we have come to know that the official story of 9/11 is at best suspect, and at worst a cover-up, with Muslims as its double and triple victims. So I ask you my fellow peace and human rights activists to join us in JMACSI 9/11,Jews and Muslims Asking for a Credible Scientific Investigation of 9/11, in demanding to know the truth of what happened on 9/11, because 9/11 continues to be the ultimate pretext for continued wars by the Empire. Since almost no 911truth group is democratic and the movement as a whole is more atomized that hierarchical, we hereby agree that Ed Ciaccio, a regular writer for Dandelion Salad, be authorized to join the UNAC board or to designate a replacement who has equal dedication to collegiality and support for progressive values. This is designed to encourage more pleasant communication rather than as a guarantee that any given proposal from the truth movement be adopted by UNAC.
